Taxicabs of the United Kingdom
Taxicabs are regulated throughout
the United Kingdom, but in London, taxicabs are particularly strict in terms of
mechanical integrity and driver knowledge. An official report states: “No one
outside of the business community knows much about the rules. Public carriage
office (PCO), taxi and private fares (commonly known as minicabs) were
classified by the regulatory and licensed
metropolitan police. Part of London Transport in 2000. " In 2015,
England had about 28,000,065 driver's licenses, of which 144,000 were private
employment licenses, 2,000,460 were taxi licenses and 722,008 were double
licenses.
